FAQ’s for Membership Purchases

Question: Can I buy just a tennis membership without sailing?

Answer: No. Sailing is at the heart of the Stony Lake Yacht Club and included in all memberships. If you wish to play tennis, you must buy a membership that includes tennis privileges.

Question:  Do I have to buy a membership to play either tennis or pickleball?

Answer:  Yes. There are a variety of membership options available.  Please consult the membership website for more detail.

Question: At what age are my kids no longer allowed to share my family membership?

Answer:  Family memberships apply to kids aged 25 and under.  Once they reach 26, they must purchase their own membership.

Question: As parents, we do not intend to use the yacht club.  Can I register my child with a single membership? 

Answer:  No, anyone under 18 years of age must be part of a Family Membership or the Caregiver/Guardian Junior Membership. 

Question:  If purchasing the Caregiver/Guardian Junior Membership, who must buy the membership?

Answer: The legal guardian needs to purchase the membership and complete the online waivers and consent forms.

Question: I am renting a cottage nearby. Can my family sign up for the activities?

Answer:  For liability reasons and in fairness to all members, you need to purchase a membership that best suits your needs.  You can contact the SLYC office at slycinfo@gmail.com  or by phone at (705) 654-4125 for further assistance.

Question: I am staying at the Morton family cottage for two weeks. Can I use their membership while I am their guest? 

Answer: No, you need to register on your own, even if only for a short time.

Question: If I buy a membership, can I bring adult guests to play tennis?

Answer: Yes, they may attend, space permitting, five minutes after the clinic’s start. They are not able to reserve a clinic or lesson spot in advance. The charge is $15.00 (plus HST) for each guest. 

Question: Will my lifetime membership carry on to my kids for life?

Answer:  No.  Kids are welcome to use the lifetime membership until they turn 26 years old.  Then they must purchase their own membership.
