Program Goals & Employee Expectations

SLYC Racquets’ Summer 2026 goals: 

  • Provide a welcoming and fun environment for tennis and pickle players of all ages and skill levels.

  • Design a program that balances free-play, clinics, and other events to satisfy the diverse preferences of our membership.

  • Design an inclusive program that delivers clear instruction and supported practice for all levels of players.

  • Design and run at-level clinics that provide the ideal mix of challenge, support, exercise, and fun.

  • Design opportunities for players of different levels to interact, socialize, and connect.

  • Design Racquet Policies and utilize the Court Reserve system to maximize simplicity, efficiency, and fairness.

  • Provide exceptional member focus and communication, prioritizing responsiveness, openness to feedback, and personal relationships.

  • Demonstrate care, respect, and pride in our racquet facilities to ensure they are well-maintained.

  • Design summer jobs that are fulfilling, developmental, financially rewarding, and confidence-building. 

  • Help foster the development of junior staff and younger members to ensure the program's viability now and into the future.

SLYC Racquets’ Employee Expectations:

  • Work closely with each other to meet the SLYC Racquets’ Summer 2026 goals. 

  • Be reliable, punctual, responsive, personable, and respectful. 

  • Respond to member feedback with an open mind and respect to maintain positive member experiences.

  • Ensure racquet policies are consistently communicated and followed. 

  • Ensure membership and guest data are monitored and accurate. 

  • Suggest and implement real-time programming changes based on attendance and usage data. 

  • Those with on-court expertise will also: 

    • Design and run clinics for members of all ages and skill levels. 

    • Be knowledgeable of the progression of skills required to go from a beginner player to an advanced player. OTA Level Instructor Level One, preferred.

    • Tailor clinis, instruction, and ball-feeding to the level, ages, and preferences of the members.

    • Completion of reputable Instructor Certification before start date (Volunteers need not have certification.)
