Our own Gord Welsh places first in his division at Great Lakes Master Champs and in Open North American Champs

The Great Lakes Master Champs was in Thornbury Georgian Bay with very light winds and old lumpy waves. Gord sailed well with a 2, 1, 13, 1, 9 score line but missed a few big wind shifts in races 3 and 5 which dropped him to 4th overall but he remained first in his age division!

Gord just returned from the Open North American Champs in Brant Beach, NJ where he had sea breeze conditions in the weedy intercoastal waterway with extreme heat topping out at 50 with the humidity.  This was a competitive regatta where you go from 5th to 20th in a hurry when you make a mistake.  Gord didn't have a great first 2 days but made solid improvements throughout the week and moved up on days 3 and 4 to finish 13th overall and first in the Apprentice Master Age Division.

Next up, Gord is looking forward to CORK and then Master Worlds in Netherlands in September.  Good luck, Gord!
