Maclain Walsworth - Head Instructor

Maclain found his love for sailing on Stony Lake many years ago and has been an avid sailor ever since. After spending three years as an SLYC Race Coach, Maclain took on the role of Head Instructor for summer 2025 and did an excellent job leading a talented group of 18 coaches while pulling off one of the largest Cottage Club regattas ever. An active sailor year-round, he spends his winters competing on the University of Victoria Sailing Team. With a background in competitive dinghy and keelboat racing, Maclain is passionate about fostering skill development as well as a love for the sport. He’s looking forward to a summer of great sailing, learning, and fun on Stony Lake! 

Stella Hong - Operations Manager

Stella has enjoyed sailing every summer at Stony Lake since she was 8 years old and has just completed her first year of Engineering at Queen’s University in Kingston. Stella started coaching at SLYC in 2025, taking on the roles of both Instructor and Operations Manager. Stella did an excellent job coaching young sailors while also helping the program run smoothly. Stella is passionate about helping young athletes build confidence, improve their skills, and most importantly develop a lifelong love for sailing. Returning to SLYC as Instructor and Operations Manager for summer 2026, Stella looks forward to keeping everything well organized behind the scenes.
